Welcome to the Middle School

Dear Middle School Students & Families, 

Welcome to our Middle School!  Below you'll find the AES MS Handbook, designed to act as a guide to build your understanding and answer your questions about all things Middle School.

We aim to build a Middle School community that is “Student-centered” and “Learning-focused.” With this as our focus, we design learning to engage and challenge students. Throughout Middle School, students are encouraged to explore different opportunities and take risks. Risk-taking comes with the chance of failure and disappointment; this is all part of building resilient humans who are better able to cope with the challenges and ambiguities of modern life. Adults in the Middle School are here to support risk-taking, learning from those moments of disappointment, and celebrating the moments of success.

Developmentally, middle school-aged children need to understand the “why” behind almost everything.  Once you and your children have read through this booklet, should you or they have “why” questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
