General Entry Requirements
Applicants should meet the following guidelines:
- the student has a history of academic growth and appropriate personal conduct;
- the student’s academic, social and emotional growth can be met by AES;
- the student’s development of English-language skills can be met by AES;
- the student would be eligible to graduate before their twentieth birthday;
- the student resides in Delhi (NCR) with a parent or legal guardian;
- the student and parent/s or legal guardian support the mission and vision of AES and will both enhance and benefit from the AES learning experience;
- an Indian citizen applicant meets the three guidelines set by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India:
- the parents of the student are likely to stay in India for a period of 2 to 3 years;
- the student should have come from an American/international system of education from outside of Delhi/NCR and intends to return to the American/international system of education; and
- the student is in a critical stage of education and studying at AES is important for the student’s education.

Priority Categories for Admissions
Applicants are considered in four priority categories. Seats are offered according to date of application within each priority category, In keeping with its board policy, AES will ensure that a seat is available for all admissible Priority Category 1 applicants.

Siblings of students currently attending AES receive priority within the higher category lane.
Guidelines for English as an Additional Language Admissions
The English as an Additional Language (EAL) program at AES is designed to support students who are acquiring English proficiency. AES has admission guidelines for levels of academic English language proficiency, this may be assessed online during the application process.
Students who require EAL services will be charged according to the published fee schedule.

Minimum Age Guidelines
The age-cut off date at the American Embassy School New Delhi is August 31.
Pre-Kindergarten 3: Students must turn 3 on or before August 31 of the year of attendance.
Pre-Kindergarten 4: Students must turn 4 on or before August 31 of the year of attendance.
Kindergarten: Students must turn 5 on or before August 31 of the year of attendance.
Grade 1: Students must turn 6 on or before August 31 of the year of attendance.
Students come to the American Embassy School from many different countries, differing school calendars and age-cut off dates. After careful review of an applicant’s age, school records, and academic history, students are placed with consideration given to the AES curriculum, standards, and expectations.
In all cases, the final decision regarding admissions and placement rests with the AES Administration.
