India is a dynamic mix of race, ethnicities and socio-economic classes - true; but deep down there are further classifications which are invisible to the naked eye (pun intended). Surnames/second names of people in addition to their linguistic/regional/familial background marks them with an indelible identity label that can either slingshot them into prosperity or prove as hindrance to receiving opportunities they deserve (independent of their merit).
Why does this happen? What is this cyclical pattern? Who is this for? Where are we going with this? How does this affect choice of partners and marital prospects of individuals?
Discover more on this and satiate your Q&A regarding one of the most controversial and sensitive topics of the contemporary Indian Society.

We've all either seen or heard of the show on Netflix. “Seema Taparia from Mumbai” is one of at least a million more (Seemas) out there. Like it or not, the show has generated a buzz and has given birth to its Jewish spin-off (literally titled "Jewish Matchmaking").
India has a distinctive divide in the way people get married - it's either "love" (where people choose their partners themselves) or "arranged" (parents select whoever they deem is the right match for their children).
What all happens in the process? Steps? Deal Breakers? Deal Makers? (Illegal Practice of) Dowry? Who (traditionally) pays for all this?
It is often said India is about three things: Bollywood, Cricket and Weddings. Let's try to understand a third of this country (metaphorically speaking).
